There’s no point crying over spilled soda—Coca-Cola says to celebrate the puddles instead.
The beverage giant’s latest spot, entitled Spills, takes a refreshing twist by honoring the joy of spontaneous human connection. You know, those heartwarming moments when you may have a cold Coca-Cola in hand but it becomes a forgotten casualty in the face of a hug with a loved one.
Launched across the US and Brazil, Spills features heartwarming vignettes—a reunion with a friend, a cuddle with a pet, a comforting embrace with family—all punctuated by the satisfying “plop” of a spilled Coke. Developed by WPP Open X and DAVID Miami, the campaign marks a first for Coca-Cola. The iconic beverage, usually the star of the show, takes a backseat to the power of human connection.
“Worth every drop” isn’t just a tagline in Spills, it’s a philosophy. The commercial underscores that a spilled drink is a small price to pay for moments of pure connection, reminding us that these unscripted bursts of joy are the real magic in life.
“Spills showcases the magical moments of embrace when time can feel like it’s stopped for a second, the drink is unknowingly tossed to one side, and nothing else matters beyond the embrace,” shares Islam ElDessouky, global vice president of creative strategy and content at Coca-Cola.

Edgard Gianesi, chief creative officer at DAVID Miami, chimes in: “We aimed to capture what Coca-Cola truly represents: not just a drink, but the moments of connection it brings. In our Spills campaign, we celebrate those moments when the joy of being with loved ones is so overwhelming that even a spilled Coca-Cola becomes a cherished memory. Every drop is worth the moment.”
